PHILOSOPHY
The goal is to maximize time spent leveling, campaigning, and exploring Aardwolf without getting frustrated by overpowered players killing you in an unfair fight.
OVERVIEW
By default players cannot be attacked by other players but there are exceptions (HELP PK). Turning on the OPK flag (HELP OPK) allows fellow OPK players to attack nearly everywhere.
Pros of the OPK flag (i.e., why OPK?):
- You might enjoy it
- Earn bonus experience, and bonus quest point reward from quests & campaigns
- Many OPK players participate for the bonuses and not to fight
- Discourage participants from leveling in your area
- Develop a reputation for being a bad mofo
- Gain PK practice/experience; everyone has to start somewhere
Cons of the OPK flag (i.e., T0 characters get crushed):
- You will lose an overwhelming majority of battles and may never win as a new player
- Some Tier 9 players are merciless and will hunt you and prevent you from doing anything
- Players want to pad their wins and are incentivized to kill an easy player (you)
The bonuses you earn can be quickly outweighed when you have to spend time running from killers - Only people 10 levels above you can attack but anyone below you is allowed to. This restriction creates a false sense of security because a high-tiered player (T3 and above) will crush you even if they are several levels below you.
There is such a thing as NOPK clans and the Thief/Bandit subclass with the entrap skill. Neither of these topics are covered in this guide but you are encouraged to read the in-game help files.
